The Hobby Racer
« on: June 03 2018, 08:43:47 AM »
At any given race track there is always 'that guy' who is a hobby racer that will never win a race yet will work endless hours and will spend money he doesn't have to race anyway. God bless that guy, cuz our sport would really suck without him.

P.S. I think I know this guy.

Bracket racing - the only racing that the automatic escort has a chance at winning.

Props to all the guys having fun no matter the budget. I’d rather see a junkyard built pos run low 12s knowing the guy built it, than a high dollar “10 second” car run mid 15s because (insert excuse here).

Brad - keep building that YouTube channel, then monetize it. It’s your supplemental racing fund!

You nailed it.  NHRA has a habit of forgetting those guys that made them.  I'm not a big bracket racer fan, but, it's necessary.  What I hate are the electronic cars with a box in them...

A lot of broken parts does not make you a racer; it makes you a slow learner.

Well said, Brad!  And I couldn't agree more, Steve!
One guy I worked with loved to drag race and would go into the States and race at major events.  I remember him telling me about red lighting against an opponent who also red lighted but my buddy's red light was longer so he lost!  Now he has him self a built 55 Chevy.

That is our local quarter mile track. I see they did the prep as usual for street car events. Apparently it was a particular light application in the left lane the guy was complaining about spinning.

That takes some skill. He taps the brake and is watching the other car in the Go Pro 10.0 final. Great post Mike...thanks.

I run Sportsman Class...no electronics... no transbrakes. Most competitive and biggest class. Took me 5 rounds last year to make the final four.
