What would you pay for it?

I need to get more information but this is what I have so far:

But it's a grey T with the black out package. 60K miles on the body, with no rot and the body is straight.  Freshened motor with champion ported irons and a "cleaned" up intake, std. cam and crank, new rings and bearings.  Green stripe injectors and a TA-49.  Stock but strengthened transmission and stock rear.  10 point cage, racing seats up front, rear seat is out but the interior was re-carpeted for the cage.  Pro stock wheels with slicks on the rear.

There is a full length exhaust but it's not installed, right now they're just driving it with the down pipe.

Cars are cheap these days according to the auctions I see.

It's a gamble on the quality of the engine, I guess.  I might bet 10k, but they probably want 15?

I have a tough time estimating it - as Steve said, the motor is a crapshoot, you won't know how well the rebuild was done without tearing it down and essentially rebuild it. A stack of receipts may help in the decision. It's the small niggling items that I would look at, body, fillers, overall attention to details, etc.

'87, gun metal grey.

Seller originally bought the car as a roller and transplanted his motor, xmsn., and rear end out of a wrecked car.

It has t-tops...which I'm not too thrilled about.  I won't be able to store this one indoors and I'd be driving it quite a bit.  The seller has always had it stored indoors so he doesn't know if the t-tops leak or not.

Who sells the seals for those nowadays?  I've never had to mess with t-tops before and now I'm hesitant about this.

the price just came down two K for t tops in my opinion....the cage ought to stiffen it up, but, I think the pain in the rear quotient for crawling around the cage offsets the plus factory.

Even with the t-tops the price is just too good to pass up.

It started at $5,500 and dropped down to $5,000 without me even approaching the subject.

parts are probably worth that...if you don't like t tops, you can pass it on after you do a bit of clean up

Wish I could find deals like that up here.
Is the interior too far stripped to go back?

I don't know yet, I am waiting on pictures.  The cage sounds typical where it goes through the panel in the back.  The carpet they put in covers the entire floor with the rear seats gone.  They told me all the door panels are perfect and the power windows still work.   It has "race" seats for the driver and passenger.

I've decided you don't want it so I'll step in and help you save face by taking it instead. Be a pal and pick it up and drive it to my place?

It's a 12 hour drive one way for me.  I have a 28' enclosed trailer so it's no big deal for me.

Here's the thing, there is a white T local to me that belongs to a friend of mine:

86 T-Type-ARP studs w/ billet caps, Comp 212/212, RJC Power Plate, TE45A with PTE turbo saver, 60lb inj, 340 w/hotwire, 70mm tb, Pat's 3200, SE Turbo 3" dp, Razor's Alky, TT chip, LS1 maf, BGC SLIC, Scanmaster, dynomax exhaust, boxed arms, moog springs, UMI lowers, and Hotchkis bar

Originally a TX car it is clear of rot except for one spot...right rear fender along the body crease at waist level it was scratched/gouged down to the metal while being worked on at a shop.  The shop put it outside in the elements for a few weeks and it started showing corrosion.  Blue interior.  It was caged at one time, but it was removed.  Apparently it was a staged race car but the stage motor was taken out and they scraped together a motor and threw it in.  Someone painted the chrome bumpers white and the idiot at the shop scraped one pretty good so now the chrome is showing on the left rear.  He took it to SE Turbo in Georgia (he didn't know any better at the time) and I had to go with him to rescue it.

I've repaired some of the electrical gremlins, got the speedo (it has a GNX style dash but I can't remember what kind of gauges) working, the tail lights (connector by steering column), got the fans going again (bad wiring), and some other things.

Then he blew both head gaskets...

Those were just both replaced by Bill Ragland so I know they were done right.  I kinda like this car, but I know what it needs...it needs a completely redone engine harness as we're constantly finding frayed/exposed wires on it.  And it's going to need a paint job, new carpet (unless you don't mind the holes from the cage), and a new rear deck (again..cage holes).   And the right front panel, just in front of the wheel well was kicked in while at the shop too.

The last price he gave me was $6K firm.
