General Buick Tech / Help with some Power Logger files
« on: November 29 2015, 02:36:35 PM »
Need some help with some Powerlogger files. (I have this posted on the big board as well)
I have been having an issue with my AFR going rich, and then really lean when I get into boost.
It seemed to have started a short while after I upgraded the software in my Tpro to 5.27. Initially the upgrade went well, and was in the process of fine tuning, and then this lean glitch started happening.
I did a factory reset of the unit, and have been trying some different settings, but the problem remains.
I am running in SD mode, and I have made sure the ECM is in open loop.
FWIW If you are wondering about the boost spike, I'm running the BSTC and have it set pretty high normally, but with the weather getting quite cold here, I am having a problem with traction, so I am breaking the tires loose pretty easily.
Here are my current settings, and some PL runs.Let me know if you see any settings that should be changed.

Thanks,
Paul

General Buick Tech / Power logger/ TunerPro and MAFTPro
« on: October 04 2015, 01:22:34 PM »
Ok need some help here.
It's been a few years since I've played with the Power logger/ TunerPro and the MAFTPro, and the old grey matter has been on vacation in this area for too long, so I'm a bit lost. Went over to the FullThrottle Speed forum, but I found  I just got confused in trying to figure out what is the latest versions of what to run. (Too many conflicting posts)
So...To make things simple. What is the most current and stable versions of :
1) MAFTPro
2) TunerPro (was using 4.14)

Thanks
Paul

General Auto Tech / Id this fitting
« on: August 13 2014, 07:02:38 PM »
I'm trying to find the proper name for this fitting, It for a Mustang II power steering rack. I see they say its a M14 x 1.5 to AN 6 fitting, (Pressure side)  but is it JIC on one end, and what do you call the O ring style on the other end? I'm looking to find this fitting locally and don't know what to call it.
Thanks.

General Buick Tech / Start, wont run problem
« on: June 22 2014, 05:40:04 PM »
Ok It has been a while since I have had to trouble shoot, and am having a problem fixing this. Out of the blue, the car will start and run for 2 seconds but dies.
I first thought it was the anti theft, and re-did the sequence, but it still behaves the same.
I then disconnected the battery for a few minutes, and tried again. Same result.
Put battery on charger to make sure battery voltage is up. No change.
Pulled WB O2 sensor, checked, and free air recalibrated. No difference.
I then thought it might be a loose park/ drive indicator wire that may have prevented the anti-theft, and pulled the console and checked from sw to ECM pin .It is okay.
Ok, thought it might be the cam sensor. checked and reset sensor with Caspers tool. No change.
Fuel pump is working fine and pressure is good.

Running Modded ECM, 52 lb Siemens injectors,  MAFTpro, Bob's Extender chip, WB O2 Sensor. Running in Speed Density mode.

General Buick Tech / Electrical question about alternator
« on: September 22 2013, 06:26:16 PM »
Have a question about the CS144 alternator.
I have a bunch of old alternators sitting in my garage and want to test them to see whats wrong with them.
I have read that we have a "B" style circuit voltage regulator  where one brush is grounded inside the alternator, and the voltage regulator control the positive power to the other brush which connects to the rotor coil. Controlling the positive power into the rotor coil  allows you to turn the alternator on and off.
I also read that I can put the alternator into "full field test"  where it bypass the voltage regulator, by supplying battery voltage to the "field"  terminal.  If the other internal components are good his will cause the alternator to go to full charge mode.
Has anyone heard of this?
I'm trying to test the internal components. I can check the resistance on the stator and rotor, and check the diodes on the rectifier, but I don't know of any way to physically bench test a voltage regulator, so I thought this "Field mode" test should do the trick. So far after trying it on 3 different alternators it hasn't worked, and all the other internal components have checked out okay?
Open to thoughts ideas.
BTW I have a couple of stock 120A alternator as well as a few 140A Impala alts

Thanks,
Paul

General Buick Tech / Cam bearing clocking?
« on: June 13 2013, 11:16:53 PM »
I have a Stage 1 block and wanted to change out the cam bearing for the new cam. But I noticed that the new cam does not have a groove in it, I picked upt a bearing set that had a groove on the back side.
I  Need some help trying to figure out how to clock this new bearing with the two oil holes.
Do I clock it to line up with the block holes, or offset it to direct more oil to the mains, or will that not make any difference because it has a backside groove?
Pics below show what I have
 Thanks
