Title: Blow off valve
Post by: Tcorgn6 on September 24 2018, 02:06:48 PM
Hey guys,
More and more as I get into the adding performance mods on my car I was wondering if a blow off valve would add extra protection. Thoughts.... :D

Only if it is a 270' bearing.  But rumor has it that it is good for an extra 50rwhp! :P

Never saw a real quick regal with a bov. Not sure what it protects, or why you think you need one. Never saw one listed in any "recipe" for going fast either.

Verdict, not needed.

I don't think they are needed on a street car with any normal sized turbo...I'm sure you will find a vendor that says it is a must have and will sell you one, tho

Blow off valves are gay. 42 seconds is what a real mans GN sounds like letting off the loud pedal.

They're so the turbo can stay spooled when you push in the clutch and shut off the throttle for 1/2 a second.

you know....     like we NEVER do on a GN.

Wrong vid...my bad. After 500 and some odd passes...the rings were gone. When I had Joe build that engine the piston to wall clearance was max. The white smoke...is from the crankcase pressurizing and pushing the dipstick up and oil dripping on the DS header. It got so bad I was emptying the reusable breathers every couple of runs.

I just installed a catch can and a turbo blanket in hopes of getting underhood temps down. Figured I better capture the oil or my blanket might be a fire hazard 🤣

You need me to build you some .031's?
