The gasket between the two halfs was destroyed when I took the top off the air box. Any ideas of what I can use to replace it?
-
The stock airbox? I haven't seen one of those in decades! lol
How about a strip of that sticky foam for sealing up household door and windows?
-
Sorry the heater core and evaperator core box.
I am trying to avoid just silicone glueing it down. I dont want it to break sometime when i remove.
-
Same thing... wide sticky foam
-
Lowes or home depot kind of item?
-
that will work, or you can buy some of the black caulking strips and lay them around the opening.

I meant the wide sticky foam for sealing to the firewall. It's can be found there or at walmart.
for the other parts, use the dum dum like Steve mentioned.
It's been a while since I did my heater core, but it seems like I had plenty there to just squish back in place.

Where do i buy black caulking strips.
Mine fell apart and was full of mouse shit so it was disposed.
-
auto parts store, auto paint store, stereo/tint shop that installs sunroofs, or get a friend that works at a body shop to grab you a scrap glob. It's the same stuff that seals our 1/4 windows.

think I bought them from amazon or such...but http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/CatalogItemDetail.aspx/Seam-Sealer-Caulking-Strips-Black/_/R-MMM08578_0006438141 (http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/CatalogItemDetail.aspx/Seam-Sealer-Caulking-Strips-Black/_/R-MMM08578_0006438141)

Someone used some crazy silicone on my old 85 T-Type and I almost cracked the housing trying to get it open. That is all.
-
when using silicone, one lays the bead down and lets it cure for about 30 minutes so that it has skinned over well, then puts the cover on.
