10.01 at 138 Last Year
« on: June 22 2015, 09:44:45 PM »
At the end of last season we were able to squeeze my buddy Mikes Camaro to a 10.01 at 138...but there was nothing left. After 100`s of passes it finally cracked a piston.

Over the winter Mike had Diamond pistons make him up a custom set...to the tune of $2500 bucks...a new block...and a new nitrous cam.

We made a couple of test hits on it Saturday at Armdrop...all went well.

If our home track will hold it on the 1st...were gonna throw a 350 shot of NOS at it.

This ain`t no trailer queen. Mike DRIVES this car to tracks all over Ontario and Quebec.

A lot of broken parts does not make you a racer; it makes you a slow learner.

Love the ice on the nano bottle to keep the pressure under control.

Definitely runs good!

Maybe he meant "made of diamonds"?

I think there are guys in the mid to low 9s using production 4.8L Gen IV LS motors now - just sayin'...

Mike there are but look at this car - it's not a fox body that has a 2500lb race weight. He's not running on fly paper tracks and it's built to be reliable.

LS's love nitrous, but they are down right nasty with boost.

Understood, but a 4th Gen F-body can make weight for a lot less.  The car in question is impressive; I am just a cheap ass when it comes to engines - nothing is ever top shelf in my cars, nor do I suspect it ever will be - which is why boosted 4.8/5.3s are so appealing.

I wasn't cheap but now that I'm not working I have to be. I tried to build my car to withstand the punishment I put it thru, and knowing where to spend the extra buck and save a buck helps.  I'm trying to get my brother to build a 4.8/5.3 for his stang and put an s475 on it

Fbodies seem to benefit from the wallet mod weight reduction, unless you want to spend hours fabricating and cutting stuff. I could loose 300lbs of the car easy. k-member, bumper supports, pin on hood, speed glass, drag brakes, drag seats - but all that shit is expensive. I've done about everything else - except removing the a/c and getting creative with sawzall and drill. If you have some tricks - share them :)

Yup...that's Mike. Rear suspension is done on the car as well. Jeremy, I'll ask him what suspension mods he's done...front and back...and I'll get some pics of the rear suspension for you. He pulls 1.4's like it's nothing.

Jeremy...the car has no weight reductions...o ther than the rims. It's pure HP.

Here's Mike and I squaring off at Armdrop last year. I nailed him on the drop and held him off for a while...but he put me away with a top end charge.

Thanks Brad - but auto cars just work. Once I can afford some tires I'll go try again on our freshly surfaced track.
