Title: Boost Valve
Post by: Recap on May 05 2014, 06:17:54 PM
I am installing a shift kit and new lockup solenoid.  Was wondering if it would make sense to add the 0.500 boost valve while I am at it, or is more not necessarily better?

You don't say what you have now.
I have the .500 in mine and I put in the oversized rev boost too.
What kit are you using?
I didn't get one but did put a different spring in the Line bias and put the line bias spring into the accumulator spool in the vb. I am pretty pleased with the shift characteristic s but am still adjusting the shift timing.
I also drilled some of the holes in the vb plate to firm up shifts.

Stock tranny with a 2800 stall converter.  I am going to install the B & M shift kit.  Already have the shift kit, in fact need to knock the dust off the box!  Main reason for popping the pan is to replace the lock up solenoid.

Id have to say, more pressure is good with these transmissions. You might source a spring to go in that boost stack when you pick up the boost valve(get stuff for a 700r4). Don't get too wild with the vb plate drilling. Breaking parts ain't no fun.
