Heater box sealing

(1/3) > >>

Norm340:
I'm looking for what would be best to use to seal the outside top of the heater/AC box at the firewall.
OEM looked like a thick tar that has harden over the years.
Kinda thought of maybe using a black seam sealer and or Windshield sealant or something similar?
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Sounds alot like butyl tape that glazers use. I have forgotten what the specific automotive version is called.

"3M strip caulk " might work?

I was going to use that strip caulk for the lower part of the box.

But when looking for the Butyl tape you mentioned earlier I did find this.
MONO Silicone PRO Premium Silicone Rubber Sealant

That'll work as long as you never want to get that heater box off again.

and those guns are bad about drips and stuff after you release the trigger.
