Now, when a huge image is linked from and external site, the software will shrink the image to fit the screen. Click on the image to toggle full size and thumbnail.

Thank you! What a pain that was, especially if more than one image was in a post.

SuperSix:
I changed the settings today so that clicking to expand to the original size will open it in a new window.

But why can I download normally from an e-mailed pic but not from my digital camera? Everytime I try to post without thumbnail software it comes up error, file to large. I'm missing the "how to" that Steve suggested to shrink the pic 800 x 600.

Most decent digital cameras capture images at over 2MB in size. That varies by the size and resolution of the pictures.

The easiest way is to adjust the camera settings so the pictures that are taken aren't huge. 1280x1024 is huge - and unless you are planning to print high resolution pics, there's really no need to take pics bigger than that. I got a new digital camera for Christmas, and the max res is megapixels, a ludicrous size picture - 4608x3456. That produces a 7MB pic.  :O

The max pic size I have set is 1MB per pic, up to 6 per post.

If you can't adjust your pic size with the camera (which will result in smaller files) you will need to resize the pic.

I uses Photobucket, even pay for it - it resizes the pics automatically once uploaded, and they even provide the link code I can paste into a message to display it.

You can use MS Paint to resize (Vista or better, I think), and there's many other utilities available to resize digital pictures.

in MS Paint (I have Windows 7 - it may be different in other operating systems)
Open the file in MS Paint, Click "resize", and enter either a percentage of the original pic, or the resulting pixel size needed.

"Save AS" (Unless you want your original resized), and then attach it.

I just resized a test pic to 1024x768 - the resulting jpg file was 268k.

Clear as mud?
