Header Gasket Question

(1/2) > >>

Scoobum:
Header gasket went on my tow vehicle...has shorty headers from the previous owner. Just got finished installing the new header gasket. Should I run a heat cycle through the engine...let it sit overnite...and then check them for tight in the morning? Or am I good to go?

You should be fine.

I would check / retighten the bolts after a few days..

Steve Wood:
really depends on the gasket material, but, it never hurts to recheck them after a few cycles

Scoobum:
Will do...thanks guys.

Charlief1:
If it goes out again try soaking it in water for a couple of hours before you put the new one in. Once in, run the engine up to temp and retighten them again. I've had to do this on my old NA Buick before to keep fom blowing them out.
