Title: **THANKS RICH (TEXAS T)**
Post by: gusszgs on April 18 2015, 10:03:19 AM
Just a big thanks to Rich (Texax T) for sending me some teflon sealing rings and a couple of springs for my 2004r build. Not to mention his help and guidance with questions. Great guy, would not accept payment even for the postage!  Hopefully I can return the favor one day. It's people like Rich that make this community great.

I can second this thanks.  Rich and I exchanged many messages and emails while I was putting my 2004R together.

Yes.  It shifts great. I put about 1000 miles on the car now I am ready to start fixing all the other problems I found.

If you come to Temple bring the tranny. It's very possible that someone will need 1.

Hey Rich're,

If you're done with those A/C gauges, would you bring them to Temple?  I sure would like to hook them up to GG and see where she's at.

My goal was to start going to the track again this summer, but car is still not ready. Hopefully in the next month or so I will be ready to hit a test and tune, then go one from there.

Just an update on the thread regarding my trans build.
Today was the day I was finally able to fire up the T and break in the new transmission. I purchased a BRF core in the spring and chipped away at it bit by bit. It was stock, and I bought a rebuild/mod kit from Dave Husek. I've never opened up an auto trans in my life, so I was pretty slow (learning curve) at getting things together.
I started it up on axle stands and began checking line pressures which were all very good. No leaks or little surprises, so all was good. Went through the gears 7-8 times maybe more and shifts were good. Well, time to drive her. So down off the axle stands for a test run.
I'm elated to say the least! Trans shifts awesome! Shifts are nice a crisp at light throttle and very firm the harder you lay into it, 2-3 is really sweet so far.

Again I'd like to extend my thanks to Rich (Texas T) as he was super helpful with any questions I had.

Also thanks to Dave Husek as well. I must have called him 15-20 times at least and I think there was only once he didn't answer the phone. If your looking to build your own transmission but want the help a guidance from a professional builder.....Da ve is your man.

I also purchased Dave's LU 3021 9.5" torque converter and so far feels great. I haven't really poured to coal to her yet but up to 1/2 throttle it feel s fantastic. Light throttle feels like a D5

I am happy to help and that goes for anyone who needs advice. I'm no guru and now James has the same amount of experience I do. haha That said, mine is working well so far too.

Anyone with questions post em up and i'll give my best answers. Ill not post my number on an open forum but I do text back and forth with several "imaginary" friends on these the interwebz so don't be shy if you want to join in. we can exchange and commence with dialogue. I like "talking" cars and mechanical stuff. I tend to learn too.

My new engines/transmissions get taken straight to the track and get beaten like a seal pup. :)

Especially engines my buddy was shaking his head fired it up checked for leaks got it to temp backed it out of the shop and hit the 4 lane stretch and put 20lbs of boost to it.
This is a roller cam so no cam break in to worry about. I did dump the oil right after that and the next oil change was not more than a couple weeks later.
Again well done on the tranny it's really satisfying to complete a project like that and be happy with the results Rich is a wealth of information and I would buy from Dave again in a heart beat.

The engine thing I get. I did this with the 464 in my GS straight from the builder to dyno. But I talked to Dave Husek and he was pretty adamant about breaking in the trans properly. I figure Dave should know, he's forgotten more than i ever know. Plus he's guided me along the way through this whole thing and everything has been A1 so far........not gonna sway now.
