Well Memorial day I had a river running down the driveway and had to dig trenches to drain the water out of the back yard. Does that count as fun? The driveway has sink holes in it where the rain's flooded things and with the wet weather my salt clumps in the shaker so bad I can't use it. I even have rice mixed in to prevent this from happening. The other issue is fleas. All the wet weather has made the flea population explode and nothing seems to work. The good news is the drought is over.

No worries about flooding at the house as we are another 55 to 60 feet above the river at the bank and the river is normally another 35 feet below the top of the bank but the pasture is a different story.  The Leon river came out of it's a backs about a 1/4 mile up from me.  Luckily, it overflowed to the south of the river bank.  I have a pretty decent sized pond building between the house and the river in the pasture.  No flees here but the mosquitos are out in abundance.

Has not been too bad around here...and we need some of the rain to fall on the Colorado river nw of here to fill Lake Ivie up...Has been some nasty stuff 50 miles away but it has mostly divided up and gone around me...

Lucked out last night and dodged the worst of it again.  Only got 1.40" which brings the total up to 6.10".  With in 40 miles of me, there are places that have had twice that this month.

The news said some areas of DFW got 8" of rain. So far for the month, this month has exceded the most ever for all time in May, and the year is ranked 2nd for most rain. I think it's time to start building the ark I made plans for.

Well after last nights rain I ended up digging about 60' of ditches so the water would drain out of the back yard, and be ready for the next round they said we would get tonight. The latest forecast is no more rain for a 5 or more days, so all my work will sit there until the next time it rains hard.

Damn, Charlie.  I hope you had a ditchwitch!  I have been really lucky as it seems to slow down just before it hits me.  Have had some big rains in the area but right now the forecast has no rain for the next week.  Lake Ivie has gained 3 ft of water but it needs 50 more feet to be full.  None of these rains have hammered the part of the Colorado river that feeds the lake.
