Title: New here, but not to Turbo Buicks!
Post by: Twinturbobuicks on September 15 2020, 11:27:54 AM
Greetings Guys & Gals!

I've been in the Turbo Buick world for about 17 years. I owned an 87 Turbo T from 2004-2008 and bought my 87GN in 03. I still have the GN. It has been thru the transformation . Everything but the bottom end has been upgraded. The tranny has been rebuilt with good parts, shift kit, trans brake, and 3400 stall. Show quality paint and leather interior done in 09. I recently replaced starter and water pump, so she is getting alot more drive time. 54k original miles. I used to hang out on turbobuicks.co m and turbobuicks.co m. Kinda got lost in other projects and kids for awhile. Good to see some old familiar names!

Lawrence Conley, Kenny Duttweiller, and Billy Anderson are legends.  They pushed the cars beyond common belief.

All I have done, other than being a cranky ol' man, is try to show people how to fix things on the cars rather than throwing money at vendors in the hope of buying that magic part that will cure all.

These cars are far less complicated that many believe and they should be pretty reliable unless one treats them ridiculously.  These days, the cars have usually been mistreated by multiple owners so it's hard to find square one unless one follows a systematic path with them.

My heroes today are people like Russ Merritt, Brad, William Avila, etc. who greatly outperform the norm without giving the car to someone else along with boat loads of money to build them a car with all the high dollar parts that vendors tout.

Ol' fashioned car guys pick it up easily but there are not that many left these days that actually do their own work.

I agree! I'm the 3rd owner of my GN and it was completely stock when I purchased the car. All the performance work has been performed by me or Boost Performance (George Hebbel) in Amarillo, TX. George got into Turbo Buicks when they first hit the streets. He currently owns several GNs and Turbo Ts/T-Types. He's very meticulous and preaches the basics like Steve. I'm into what works and hate pissing off money.

that is the reason I always look for problems with the board for you to fix.  I figure it gives you something to worry about!
