From TBS.com:
What's Going On?
Currently Active Users: 264 (14 members and 250 guests)
Right. :rolleyes;
-
I looked over there the other day in the tech section and saw a question from flyingn or whatever Frank's name is...obviously was not him!
Injen, LOL....maybe there are some honda powered Buicks out there
-
I think I get more emails a day asking how to fix something than they get....
They need to invent a Sarah Fernandez, or whatever her last name was, to get some activity going.
-
Maybe I need to make up a Turbobuick.com subforum? :)
-
Long as you don't appoint moderators, I am basically happy!
-
Well I generally leave the HA and IC guys alone, but the C/T guys I direct over to TB.com so they can get some decent info. :D
You missed the free wheels that you could've gotten for Christmas from carID. LOL I posted in it and waited 24 hors before deleting it. :player: Asked him why he was advertising this site since no one on the forum uses ricer cars. I also pointed out that he just might get a little more traffic from the site if he even had a listing for a 78-87 Buick Regal. :icon_fU:
-
ya the place is a joke now.. All the "newbie's" coming in like crazy !! How do they get them all to go there :chin: :player:
-
No idea - but there's sure as hell not that many REAL visitors there.
-
I think I get more emails a day asking how to fix something than they get....
You can blame me for a few of them. :player:
Other than Toronto & Magna sections the site boring.
-

Once I get the server transfer done I will add a MAGNA section here if they approve.
-
I only post BPG information as a courtesy to the Magna and Toronto Crew...it is pretty funny when you see the waiting for has no posts in 24hrs...and the tech section sometimes goes days without a post...It is sad that board was good in its day...
-

That would have been Sara Ramos Steve. (would have been if she was a real person  )

Also the Toronto section. That will give me a reason to post & bring some more of them here. :chin:

LOL, oh well, she would have been Cuban if she had been!
Maybe, we can get Zap to take on another persona and start posting good tech like Sara did!

I first thought you guy were sh*tting us,

Sara carried either an HK, or a Sig at all times as I recall.
-
STILL with the Poston's ads
-
Poston's ads? What's next something from Kenne-Bell?
No wonder the decline was so swift.
-
Does Orlando even post there anymore? I haven't been there in months since I received a PM saying they wouldn't sell me the site.
-
That site is dead to me...
-
Does Orlando even post there anymore? I haven't been there in months since I received a PM saying they wouldn't sell me the site.
He doesn't show his head anywhere it seems. It looks like he's gone with the wind. :hmm
-
I check my MAGNA stuff and breeze thru the message board, not a whole lot to see. That's after I check here first of course. :D
-
I need someone here that knows the MAGNA hierarchy to let them know we have a dedicated section here for them now.
-
Either Banning or Chadreu, they'd fill you in. Sean, how bout you?
-

He is completely out of Turbo Buicks. He doesn't own a TR or his hybrid anymore.
-
I spoke with Barbara the other day. Mikes busy being a Dad and all that goes with that. BTW, Bill & Barbara's Special Additions makes some great Buick gear.
I got a jacket ordered. :icon_super:
-
Have a few shirts and jackets from Bill and Barb. Agreed nice stuff.

haven't been back there since coming here.
there is so much good tech info to be found on that site, but I was just put off that it was sold to who it was sold to.
these 80's turbobuicks and their legacy are abit personal and special to me, and we are a small community, I like being apart of a site owned and ran by fellow tr enthusiast.
-
I think that is what bothered a lot of people - that it was not offered for sale to any of the members. But what can you expect? Buick owners are notoriously cheap. He probably got an offer he could not refuse. Who can blame him for that?
-
ok, so whats the big deal?
I sold my rice, so I'm officially non union/ anti everything!
-

Well... It was up to him. Would have just been nice for him to ask if "we were interested in the board". I just think its a joke in there with the new owners. Matter of fact I am surprised they haven't banned me!! Cardi or whatever its called advertising JUNK.. Pitiful. And of course all the new members joining up at 10 at a wack.. STUPID STUPID :icon_madu:
-
he was pretty much done with posting when I had joined tbs.
Maybe he did offer the site to some select members??? and they aren't saying???
just woulda been decent of him at least to inform everybody before hand and see if anybody wanted to make a offer.
oh well
:atbeer:
-
Shane knew but Mike blew his offer off. Didn't even give him a chance to make a second one. :icon_evil: Mike really didn't care at that point so he sold it out and it's pretty much gone now. :013:

I throw this boards name out when I can or I direct them to Steve thru here. :player:
-
What would be funny is to go and see if the TBs.com name is still held or if it's free. If it's free the domain name would be up for grabs so you could buy it and sell it to them or keep it for your own use. I'd almost bet a bunch of domain names aren't claimed and the sites are open for purchase. :add_wegbrech:
-
Expires 09/12. I doubt they will let it slip, with all of the ad revenue - like Poston's. :icon_confused:

hehe.
I'm not sure what made them join - I think the "Why is this board so dead" thread over at TBS.com brought in a few - some are looking for Mr Wood.
-
LOL...most of them email me if they think I can help. They have Grumpy and Paul to keep them straight
-
I can tell you that in the Toronto section there a lot of people don,t like each other and no one says much there any more.
-
I thnk I can disable the links for you if you'd like Steve. :chin: Don't know if I can do a redirect to here though. :icon_lol:
-
not sure what links you are talking about or why you would want to disable them? :)
My site has my email contact on it so people can get hold of me if they wish
-
Grumpy prolly HAS all those exhaust tips by now, the valentine, the kitty cat, the...
-
If he gets any tips on the horses, I wish he would let me know
-
They have Grumpy and Paul to keep them straight
NOPE !!!! I try not to flap my gums anymore. You can lead a horse to water but ya can't make em drink :icon_madu: They are getting dumber and DUMBER.. Want to run 9s on $1000. Old age is taking a lot out of me :player:
-
If he gets any tips on the horses, I wish he would let me know
only 4 leg tips I can give ya is not to stand to close to el packa's.. They will spit at ya !!
-
damn, we all know it takes at least $2500 to get into the Nines...if you want to be streetable anyway. Old age is when you have toys but it is too much trouble to open the garage door, or the closet door, and get them out. I don't take a car out sometimes because I don't want to have to open the shop and then the gate out of my yard...need to electrify things, I guess

hahaha.. My RX7 has been sitting DONE for at least a year and a half. !!! Shelby just came out of my Dads farm to fix the carbinator thingie.. It sits on top of the motor from what I remember. Although its nice to DRIVE things in an out rather than pushing !!! Knee's are worn out now.
-
amazing how quickly we hate to have to mess with carburetors and distributors after having fuel injected cars. Don't know how we ever tolerated them.

The funny part is how many people are the complete reverse of this. My land lord has a 50's Jeep wagon that he want to stuff a small block in and I've been trying to get him to put a 5.3 in it. You can get a 4 barrel intake and spark controler for it around $600, but he doesn't want "all that fancy crap". Better design and makes more power as well as better gas milege. I just don't get it myself. :chin:
-
the great thing about f.i. is that you get in it, crank it up, and drive off...no big deal in cold weather, hot weather, rain, sleet, or snow...no floats to stick, no advance weights to rust up, and so on
-
I remember rebuilding the feedback carb on my rosewood 87 NA T. Horrifying.. But it worked!
-

LOL I remember having to show one of the master techs I worked with how to set a carb. :add_wegbrech: He really didn't have a clue on how to do anything other than bolt it on. :O And he was a "A" tech on top of that. :rolleyes; Did a lot of fixing from the stuff he didn't have a clue on how to do. :013:

That $25k is just 1/2 of the administration fee for the school of hard knox.

Lotsa ten second car owners out there with 13 second time slips that belong to that school that is sponsored by your vendor

My main addiction is "want" which is worst then "i need" most people that "need" can usually accept sense being talked into them but the "want" guys are just retarded :068:
-
explain that using pictures, I don't understand :D
-
what really pissed me off is the fact he did not offer the site to the core members. After it was sold I reached out to him and got no reply...then i got banned by the new owners...If it was not for the Toronto Crew and the Magna boys complaining I am sure I would still be gone...and I thanks them for that just to be able to post BPG info... There is more behind the scenes than most know...and it really boils down to $$$...
-
Well, tell us the back story!
-
In my current position I am privy to lots of stuff that is not public knowledge...Th ere are a few items that cannot be discussed openly due to legal issues...as far as TBS.com from what I was told he was approached and took the offer...hence the $$$ even though that site was known for transparency..,, which Mike quoted often...post what you want it will not be deleted...but IMHO he sold out..
-
He did sell out. :013: The new owners have tried to buy TB.com several times and keep getting the cold shoulder, thank goodness. You also have to understand why TBS was created though. Mike wanted it to be more than what it was and it never really got as big as he wanted. Since it didn't do as well as hoped and the cars are dying out he bailed. :icon_evil:
-
judging by the nature of some of his post that I had seen, it doesn't surprise me he would sell to anyone that would offer a good amount of cash. I'm not saying he's a bad guy or anything, I don't know enough about him. it's just funny how $$$ can make all the difference in people.
I don't know how much they paid for that board, but my guess is there's nobody in the tb community that would pay what they did
-
well Mike didn't know squat about Buicks when he started the site. At the end he still didn't know squat :player: . I laugh everytime I think about his "budget " 4.1 rebuild. Blew that sucker so many times I forget the # of engines he did or redid. Then of course he had the "in information" on all the different silicone colors :add_wegbrech: He really hadn't been that active for years . He got married an just moved on. Some people can do that :icon_fU:
-

Agreed. The place was pretty well at max throttle & not picking up any speed.
Take a double digit number, add a few zeroes & he cashes out to help with a new marriage & raising kids. Most people would probably do the same.

He topped it when he became a full fledged vendor and starting making up science to sell alternators...
He made the right choice when he took the money, imo.
-
Some of you sent him money to keep things going and that was all ignored
at the end.No a classy move.

I sent him $300-$400 over the years. Not a lot but I felt it was fair at the time.
I forgot about the $$ but the tech was worth it to me. :powersix: :atbeer:
-
can't blame a guy for taking the money and running. He had a wife and family on the way. He needed the money, I am sure.
Hey, it's a "real" board now. Got advertisers and moderators now :D
-
I would have quietly offered it to a half dozen or so members on the board. As Dave stated...peopl e were always giving contributions. ..and in the end...that was all forgotten.

Ask Norbs about the mini alternator. No wait...he's already on max dosage for blood pressure pills.
-
Mini alternators cook themselves very quickly if you try to go more than a quarter mile at a time, and often fail in a year if used only on race cars....make them out of imported junk and who knows?
-
Never worked from day 1. Norbs shipped it back at his expense...and it still didn't work when returned.
-
once taught, twice burned, or something like that
-
Good thing he's out of the groups then. It's a shame but it sounds like Paul from the ebay thing. :013:
-

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me, fool me three times & I'll kick ya right in the nuts!! :add_wegbrech:

What vendors got the boot/ stopped paying?
-
i have one of his alts. on my work van and it kicks some serious ass
i run a 1 HP compressor.
still working great after 3 years
passion-what ever, i love my car, but to feed my family it would get a huge for sale sign, first come first serve.
the only fucked up part is not reaching out to the people that helped him in the past.
-
I donated regularly up until I saw that Mike was losing interest but the last time I donated I sent him a coupon I got from Grizzly Industries (tools) and he said he used it to buy an 80 piece drill bit set. Probably been collecting dust in his garage since he got it.

LOL, no, Dan, I was not referring to the board. I made a comment, and then thought it was a wasted effort and could not delete it.
Hey, I learned a lot on the board. I learned that it did not matter if the oil pump was rubbing because you could go ahead and take it to the track and then rebuild the whole engine when it blew. I learned that the only difference between clean silicone and blue was food coloring. I learned that ground wires did not carry electricity. I learned that a high amperage alternator would make your fan run faster. I learned that only a specific brand and number of teflon would seal head bolts. I learned that all the stories about hypereutectic pistons breaking under detonation was b.s.

I did learn a lot there so to me it's a shame that it will die a slow painful death.
Altho, times change as do people so I'm glad we now have this place! :icon_fU:
