I didn't REALLY need it, but I justified it to myself in record time. :P

Good show.

General Buick Tech / Re: Normal Temperature of an ECM?

Stopped by the local computer store and picked one of these up in 120x120x25mm form:
http://www.evercool.com.tw/products/fan_al.htm

The 12V to 24V capacity makes it an easy sell in an automotive application. The aluminum body should help better act as a heat sink over a plastic/polymer unit. I chose to ignore the fans with temperature control as I don't care to figure out how to make it work (might just be internal), or what the switching points are; this will either be key-on/run power or on a toggle switch when out on long trips. More to follow.

I am also going to investigate a means to filtering the air pulled through the ECM, across the chip/PL opening and then out the case vs. pushing air into the case which is still a viable option.

I thought about this same issue years ago Mike when they first introduced low impedence drivers for these computers.
The drivers are thermally grounded [heatsunk] to the case.
Maybe a slot with a screen, top and bottom to see what happens?

It has always been tough to be correct when "splainin"to the radius.I still can't figure out how John,Steve & I didn't do one stitch of work on someones car that time at Quaker. As for you "Sir Radius" you need to quit being such a "cheaky bugger" and mind your elders.

Sorry big guy. :chin:
As to working on someone else's car, always remember:

If you do and something goes wrong....you're the goat.

That's what I told a border guard from the US a few years ago when he thought I was going to Columbus to work on race cars.
No Sir,I let them make their own messes.

John, some times it takes a long time to explain troubleshootin g long distance :)  Glad I suggested he jump it from front to back before pulling the tank.

I'm not arguing that.
He still needs to get beat up...honest. :D

Atrix is out of date, but, not a bad phone.  Back in the spring, it looked good.  The Sensation is a nice phone.  It might be second on my list.  I am going with the Galaxy.  No more Iphones for me...Even jail broken, Apple is still a pain.  ATT is the only major phone company in my area..otherwis e I would go Sprint and take their 4.5" version of the Galaxy.

I hear Sprint will be getting the iPhone 5....

I'm still rocking my free Tmobile Samsung Behold II, with Android 1.6! woot!

The ONLY phone I might pay something for is the Motorola Defy. "old" phone, but I like the toughness of it.

I've heard different things about Moto Blur.
How do you like it?

right now, HTC has nothing I want...good phones tho.  I have not heard of many problems with the S2.   Few make as good a phone part as Moto, imo, when it comes to signal.  My son has the evo 3d and it is pretty good.  His wife's Photon works places where his is struggling to stay connected.

Only problem is that by the time they bring the phones here, they are beginning to introduce the next models overseas....

Before someone pops in and tells me how wonderful, LG's are, save your breath

I wouldn't waste your time suggesting an LG [low grade] product.
You might want to look at an Atrix though,if you like the SGS2.
BTW: I have a Sensation.
Not bad,not bad at all.
