Attempted to put some freon in the car today and found the port to be leaking badly on thr black canister. Do i have to replace whole canister? TIA

Make a solution of soapy water. .. The soap-ier the better. .. Put the solution in a small squeeze bottle... soap up all joints and lines with the system running. .. look for the bubbles and you will have a better idea of the extent of your leaks. ..
The leak very well may be a deteriorated o ring or seal. ..

Its leaking AT the port where you fill with freon on the black canister on the passenger side. I was asking do I have to replace the entire canister, or just that nipple portion? Thanks

It's a schrader valve Phil. Replace it with the right one and you may be able to do nothing else.

Thanks

It's a difference between just replacing the stem vs the whole valve isn't it?
-
Only asking because I found a tool that allows you to replace the stem without losing refrigerant, but I'm not 100% sure if it'll fit my car or not

Nevermind. Thanks
