Title: Low Fuel Light flickers
Post by: kjhansen on November 06 2020, 08:45:42 AM
1987 Turbo Regal, new to me.  Dash is not stock--has 145mph speedometer.  My understanding is that the low fuel indicator was NOT an option on these cars.  Nevertheless, the low fuel light goes off and on no matter the fuel lever.  Any idea why this might be happening and how to stop it?  Other than pulling the bulb.  I know that.

It was not offered on Regals but we bought them up used and added them.  I have noticed that some of them had  burned contacts when we got them.

Only thing I know to do is pull it out, clean the contacts, stick another bulb in it just for the heckuva it, and try it again.

They were set to come on at a certain resistance level so something could be burned or corroded to affect that resistance.

Julio also used that in his ALKY kits as an option.

This was apparently the issue.  Don't know if Julio built this kit, but I topped off the alcohol tank and the light went out.
Thanks!
