Why not use the XFI's internal boost control?  Or is yours an older unit?

Thanks a ton!  Sounds like a perfect cam to go into my numbers matching block that's getting slowly put back together.

General Buick Tech / Postons GN 107 T cam specs
« on: January 28 2012, 08:58:51 AM »
Hello folks.  I recently acquired a new Postons GN 107 T cam, but without a card.  I've searched until blue in the face and have only found a couple of tid bits of contradictory information.

Anybody have an old cam card for one of these layiing around, or actually know the specs???

TIA!

General Buick Tech / Re: Flexplate/starter alignment?
« on: January 27 2012, 04:27:11 PM »
What we used to do if we had a starter with noisy engagement was remove the solenoid and engage the drive by hand. We wanted to be able to insert an opened full size paper clip at the point where the gears mesh at their tips. GM is the only one that does this. I used to have a bunch of shims. What some people call starter alignment is more like pinion depth.

Even better than that. Most starters come with some shims, and a neat little tool.  It's a 1/8" diameter steel rod about 6" long.  It's proper usage is to slide it between the flexplate/flywheel teeth, and the starter gear shaft.

SYNC is about the same, and offering personal assistance now to iirc.

If you're refering to Ford's SYNC, no not the same.

Cool tell me what is different. Inquiring minds like to know.

Hmmm. New technology added.  Wasn't aware of that.  But it sounds, after reading it, that it's less inoxious than On-Star, Can't be all bad, it's free. JK

You're correct. That big black connector with the orange wire leading to the little metal can is the radio capacitor.  Keeps noise off the power line to the radio.

The first one's ok and the second one is the one I've been using Mark. It'll work fine and it will also work on small and big block buicks as well. If I remember right the V6 and V8 all have the same tooth count. 162 if I remember right.

Forgot to add that the first is a PMG starter and the second one is a gear reduction type so it usually spins faster.

Interesting.  I just counted the teeth on my original flexplate and there's  160.

So FN made a mini-M16 and put high velocity rounds into it, eh? Like Dave said it is going to lack stopping power. The reason you have high velocity rounds is to compensate for distance shooting; not something you want in a pistol which is really only effective under 50m.

Ya, but you gotta remember it was primarilly designed for military use, and more specifically, armor piercing.  There's a ton of different armor piercing ammo for it, but not available to the public.  They only brought out the standard rounds so the public could have something to use with this piece.

You'll be good to go.  You just need the correct pedal, which it sounds like you have.
