Ls1 chevette - fuel lines ran inside the car and regulator on the firewall! Do people think?

My NECKCAR has the fuel line running through the passenger compartment.  Right down the inside of the DS 'door' area and through the firewall.   Seems like running it through one of the THREE hollow frame rails (with open ends) would have made more sense.

....but what do I know.
