I pulled my spark plugs today and didnt like to looks of them, I know sometimes the oil comes out of the breathers and leaks down on #3 and 6 cyl. so they may have reason to have build up, but they also look like the timing is off. I did not put the valley pan gasket on this engine and it seems to be sending oil thru the pcv valve, when I go open throttle there is always some smoke and when i stop the car for awhile when i restart it throws out some smoke. I have about 1200 miles on this engine and I have had to add 2- 1/2 quarts of oil. Anyway my big concern here is the timing I finally hooked up the power logger and went to collect data, file #5 was a slow rolling start and I think that my foot was getting lazy on the gas petal at the end (tps volts dropped). I would just like someones opinion on the log, Thanks

:icon_confused: spark plugs

Looks okay to me. Needs a little more boost to get the o2s down a little or program the fuel in the chip down a little.
Battery voltage looks a little low. Not sure if that is low output from the alternator, or is the PL reading a bit low due to connections or an ecm that just likes to read low...
PCV is sucking oil out of the valley with no one piece tray to separate it from the crankcase

for some reason I cant get more than 20psi of boost out of it , i have adjusted on my manual boost controller and the wastegate and it still stays at 20, it must be releasing air some where when it gets to 20. Steve I noticed that the timing was @ 40 at cruising speed is that normal.
-
yeah...it is
have you tried wring the wastegate closed to see if the boost keeps rising?
-
no but I will try that , it just sounds kinda scary
-
just lift your foot in a hurry!
-
finally had a chance to tie the wastegate, well the boost went up to 25-27 then i let off. now its to figure out if its the boost controller or the wastegate accu.
-
that should be pretty easy
If you are still running the factory Y plumbing, be sure you did not install it backwards....i f not, check the spring in the controller
-
I do not run the Y , and I have just changed the spring and ball in my manual boost controller, that is what confusing to me, the boost controller should hold the pressure to my setting then send the air to the wastegate,
-
sounds like it does not. I used to try to set the pop open pressure with a compressor but found it always opened much lower than what I wanted when I installed it on the car....had to tighten the compression a lot more.
