New member from Flint, MI
« on: December 12 2014, 10:49:39 PM »
Hi everyone, I've had my GN since 1997... it was parked for the last few years, but I'm working on it this winter to get ready for this summer. Engine is out, inspecting the short block and putting it back together... so I figured I should study up.

So I get on the internet, and start reading, turns out a bit has changed since the last tune I had about 10years ago, hell even my scanmaster doesnt work anymore! So I figure I better find Steve Wood, and that led me here... What the crap Steve, did you get kicked off another board?

anyhow, here's the gameplan:
hydroboost
some form of new chip to replace my ME-R, fresh injectors
mildly ported heads (had a blown gasket)
9" converter (16930)
clean up some oil leaks, freshen up the oil pump
inspect the cam, get some new cam bearings, maybe throw a roller at it, if the stocker is wiped
monster sway bar

Nope....I don't like boards where vendors control the information and their sins are hidden :)

How have you been doing?  :)

thats a good reason.

I'm doing really well, unfortunately that means my career was keeping me from enjoying my hobbies, and now that our buddy steve is retired from the chip business I've got my work cut out for me to get this thing tuned up right. On the other hand, I can afford to do it right for a change.

Welcome!

thanks!!

Gavin,  Eric at TT took Steve's software and created the SD1 that tunes just like Steve's chips and that is what I have been using since Steve quit...works really well

Right on, that is the tentative plan, I was just spoiled because I could ride down the street and get a lot of tuning done for a coke and pack of smokes.

I've got a VLOG going as well, here's the progress as of last week. I'll probably put a fresh video up tonight.

Thanks, I think I'm going to try to post GN videos every Sunday night... so long as I'm making progress. Maybe more often over the holidays, based on progress.
Lots of parts coming in... (here's last Sunday's video)

I wonder if I should move the video posts to the other forum?
