will a poorly adjusted tv cable stop the trans from going into od?

from what I understand in theory, no....on the other hand, one of my cars quit going into od and I readjusted the cable one notch and it started working again...either magic, or a miracle, I guess

All I know is that with it disconnected it works like half a powerglide.
