MAD ICE this morning. Could have skated to any destination as the salt trucks appeared to be on holiday as well.4x4 or you don't go anywhere.

Damn yall, I had to run my ac for a few hours today. I think I'll have to again tomorrow but after that I think we'll get a day or two in the 60s.

it was so icy yesterday that when my wife's car got on the road in front of our house it wouldn't move anywhere, and that's with snow tires.   I was able to push it by hand sideways to the curb while the car was in park.

I had to put ice-cleats on when we got home... the driveway is an ice rink.  And our 4x4 with snow tires still struggled.  I am not amused.

I prefer ice tires over snow tires for that reason.  My winter tires suck on ice but are great in the deep snow.  My old Michelin Ice X were amazing on the ice even glare ice.  No comparison between them and my winter tires!

I can stud our Hankooks... and I should.

I just finished "shoveling" the ice off the deck, and chipping paths out on the driveway. FML.  Thank goodness I keep my ass in shape - it is an inch thick in places.

I shovelled 3/4 of my roof of yesterday.  And in one spot the snow had drifted to 3 feet!  And it was heavy!  Now it snowed again over night.  So I am glad I got most of the snow of the roof.  But shovelling today sucked because it is -25 out. :x

Here are a couple shots.  You could see the singles on the roof yesterday after I finished clearing it.  And that is what I woke up to this morning.  There is a shot of the snow I piled on the side all by shovel.  That is basically 1 month of snow fall.

I do appreciate this house having a steel roof.  Though it definitely wakes you up in the middle of the night when the snow starts to slide off.

What sound does snow sliding off a roof make?

it sounds like a bunch of kids are tobogganing off the roof.  Then when it hits the ground it is a really loud dead thump.   Probably kill children if it landed on them.   We have stops to keep the snow from all coming off where the entrance doors and where we park the cars.
