So...I still don't have my car back yet, we had to wait for the motor to get back.  Then there was a problem with the DMV since I retired and resettled in another state while the car was in a ship in a completely different state...

Anyways, motor is in...DMV issues are worked out, but there are some odd gremlins popping up.

1st:  When you go to disconnect the battery, the car tries to start itself.   The key was NOT in the ignition.  He loosened up the positive battery terminal and it was just about to come off when it tried to turn over.  It doesn't always do this.  Another odd thing, I had a tbs.com mini starter and it would always kick off the audible knock sensor and sometimes it wouldn't turn over (changed it out twice), he put on his mini starter (not a tbs.com starter) and it works fine, every time without issue.  He thought he had gotten it at autozone so he got me one (which looks identical to his) but it kicks off the knock sensor too.

2nd:  Odd vibrations felt at 3K RPM.  Took out the Pat's 2800-3000 L/U stall and put in a stock converter and no change.  Changing out the drive shaft tomorrow, then the alternator and pulleys...hope it's nothing internal on the new motor.

I'm not there...just relaying what's happening thus far and seeing if anyone has any ideas I could pass on.

Many starters will generate a noise in the 6000 hz range and that will trigger the knock sensor.  The aftermarket knock alarms work off the raw data stream and this makes it worse.

If it vibrates in Park, it is obviously not the driveshaft as it is not turning.  Did you put poly engine mounts on both sides?  They transmit a lot of vibration.

Not sure on the starter as the solenoid can get no power without the key being ON.  Did the starter try to engage the flexplate, or did the motor run?  Either way that seems to be a starter problem in the solenoid portion.  I would try another starter if the connections on the starter are properly spaced from the main post and the small post with the purple wire from the key.

A lot of broken parts does not make you a racer; it makes you a slow learner.

The vibration is felt while driving, it does have poly mounts and those were put in a couple of years ago (maybe 1K miles since then).  He traditionally uses a N/L on his cars, so I'm wondering if the vibration he feels at 3K has something to do with the L/U on my car?

That crossed my mind too as I have a Viper 2 way remote/pager alarm on it.

maybe the spark at disconnect is being interpreted as a signal by the alarm

You let him swap starters before you told him about the electronics?

Electronics?  The alarm?  Yeah, he knows about the alarm...I wanted to make sure he knew about it as well as the pain generators.  Why?
