IHADAV8 Playground / Charlie's memorial service
« on: November 07 2016, 01:17:08 AM »
Just figured I'd post this here.  I don't really post or keep up on the other tb boards anymore.

I'm really glad I went.  Sometimes it's just good to up and get out and go away from the daily grind, even if it is for a sad circumstance.
There was a pretty good amount of people there, but I'm sure with it being on a Sunday afternoon made it difficult for alot of people that wanted to come from afar. I think it would have made charlie happy to know there was  people from the forums that came from several states away to pay their respects.
It was kind of surreal to hear the minister mention the Buick boards during his sermon. I thought that was really neat though.  The reverand, most likely not knowing charlie, obviously did some research on charlie and pointed out how much charlie was liked and his love for helping others all over the states that he never even met (like me).  I remember Charlie's sister mentioning she looked at some of the turbobuick websites and I jokingly said that is alot of minutes of your life your not going to get back, lol! I was referencing to alot of the drivel that goes on (which I most certainly never contribute to :D)
Charlie's sister was a very nice person.  Such a wonderful caring spirit about her.  I have never met charlie, so I'm just going to remember him partially, through his sister, as I am sure he had the same kind of aura.
There was a slide show at the reception.  Pictures of charlie throughout the years and even a couple with his 82 gn :(
I think charlie would have been happy to know there where turbobuicks in the parking lot.  Along with some tech talk, etc.  We talked about the boards at the reception, members, etc.. was good meeting pyro6, I had no idea he was from the north east.  I make no secret about being a Steve Wood fan and asked if he was there.  I can't remember who it was but I remember reply was "I don't think Steve ever leaves his compound", lol.  (It would have been great to see you steve)

Listen, I straight up admit I get to be a emotional guy sometimes, I get it from my father, whom I love very much, so screw off! Lol.  But I have to say this...and if it's out of line, then Mark can delete it.

With charlie seemingly very level headed in his post over the years..what could have made him decide to make his exit, like he did?
In my mind, with what very little info i have to go on...the whole drive down to Texas I had concluded that maybe some irreversible  health issues had came about and maybe that was the cause.  I was thinking that based upon what kristina (gngal) told me him being in such great amount of pain and walking with a Cain earlier this year when she met him on the power tour.
But, in addition, hearing a couple things amongst conversation from those that did know him fairly well,, and I can't remember enough to exactly quote them...but one that really stands out to me is "owed money to him, and money owed, along with many other things adding on".  When I heard that, it rerouted my thoughts in a differant direction.  Cause, I get it, I truly do.
10-15 years ago (and believe me, I'm not much any smarter now than I was then), but I would have a differant opinion about folks that chose that route.  I choose to look from a more open mind now.
I've had a rough year.  My best friend since Jr high was shot and killed a few months ago, along with a guy I went to school with (didn't know him that well). Things like this change a person.
I don't want to discuss or hear details about or surrounding Charlie's death, but Ive wrote this much because i want to make this point.
Driving back home that night a vision/dream/thought appeared in my head of that day charlie left us.  It's almost like I can see God reaching down to charlie as charlie was reaching up and the Lord said "Charlie, I would have preferred you not have done that, but I know you, as no one else knows you, so welcome home".

Godspeed Charlie

couple things for sale.

Good used TV cable for 84-87 turbobuicks. The detent device works excellent. $60 shipped to the lower 48.

Good used steel header support spacer piece that the front header panel bolts up/lays on.  Its from a 87 Grand National and will fit all 84-87 turbobuicks and 2 door regals, I don't know if it will work for the 78-83 cars.

I have 2 things for sale.
first is a custom made valve spring remove/install tool.  It makes changing out the springs and seals super easy vs the common valve spring tool you may have or rent from the local parts store.   This is made specifically for the 3.8 engine and makes changing them a breeze (even #6 cyl)  It has a socket built into it for a 3/8's ratchet.  Comes with a spare rocker arm so you don't have to bully around yours when doing the job.
$45 shipped to the lower 48

second is the shifter parts that go from the column down to the trans.  All are in like new condition and have been media blasted and painted gloss black.  Includes everything you see in the pic.
$22 shipped to the lower 48.

set of 4 very nice headlight bezels and housings from a 87 gn.  The steel housings where in very nice shape and I media blasted them and painted them black.  The chrome bezels are also nice with no issues.  Take some steel wool to them and they would probably really look awesome.  I will include some of the headlight bezel screws just because, but I'm sure you will want to replace them all with new ss screws from the hardware store.  I will also include a brand new headlight adjustment nut that you see in the pic.
$30 shipped to the lower 48.

I have a flywheel from a 87 gn that I lightly bead blasted and painted black that is in excellent condition with no issues.  $30 shipped to the lower 48

2 good working cruise servos from 87 gn's.  $25 shipped each to the lower 48.

1 good working clean wells TPS sensor for 86/87 turbobuicks and 89 tta's.   $15 shipped to the lower 48

1 good working very clean IAC senor for 86/87 turbobuicks and 89 tta's.  Comes with both new gaskets.  $15 shipped to the lower 48

see pics attached.

General Buick Tech / how do I identify a turbo flywheel?
« on: June 21 2016, 05:32:50 PM »
I don't know much about the differant flywheels used on the 231 engines, other than there is a differance in the holes stamped in them I've seen on turbo cars vs the NA cars.
how would I know the differance?

For Sale/Trade/Want To Buy / couple posters cheap
« on: February 28 2016, 05:45:17 PM »
I'm doing some interior changes.  have had these 2 posters hanging on the wall.
They are very nice shape.  Would like to get $25 shipped if I can,  after paypal and shipping fees and buying a cardboard poster tube, probably won't make more than 10 bucks, lol.
The BB bad to the bone poster is the one from the 84 ad way back in the day.
just selling the posters, not the frames.

Billet Aluminum Fuel Pressure Regulator.  Bought new from Kirban performance.  Perfect condition, no issues.
$65 shipped to the lower 48

Aluminum Brake drums for the rear.  These still have lots of life left in them.  No broken fins or cracks.  Put them on and go.  These will be media blasted and painted with black VHT before I ship them.
$125 shipped to the lower 48

I have a completely rebuilt and port matched by Throttlebodys. com 86/87 throttle body and intake plenum, with RJC Power Plate.  And also the matching aftermarket vac block.  Aprox 500 miles on it.  No issues.  Gaskets included.  The throttle body has has the coolant nipples removed.  I will also throw in a set of coolant lines that do not have the tb coolant line nipples on them.  Clean up the look of the engine compartment and take away 2 more chances of coolant leaks.
The RJC power plate has a bolt and nut through the EGR hole as I was not using the EGR.  If you are using the EGR, simply remove the bolt and nut and you are good to go.

$350 shipped to the lower 48 for all of it.

I am also listing this on another board, so I have to treat it as first come, first serve.
