New radial pro

Has anyone stepped up the new MT Radial Pro? I'm going to give the ET Streets a couple more tries this spring but if my traction wows continue I'll have to do something, and a tire change may be in order. My ET Streets are in very good shape but with this new Husek converter it's blowing them off pretty easy at low boost launch. Mind you the track conditions weren't the greatest late last year, and that's why I'll try them a few more times this spring.
Just wonder if anyone on here has them and what difference they made.

No...but have read good things about them on the other board. My 28x9's just came in...at 10 percent off Summits price. I got in on a group order from Cory at Karbelt in Oshawa.

Yes, but I have yet to test them at the track!  They are way softer than the regular MT drag radials.

I think with your new combo and the trans setup you need to be stepping to a 28 inch tall tire when you buy new ones. Those 255 are nice but I think the extra height gives more of a contact patch.

28" tire will keep the RPM's in a more usable powerband. I'm curious what the slip rate is with Huseks convertor.

Jim I have 28x9's and 10.5's mounted on stock GN rims. You're more than welcome to try them. Just let me know when you hit the track and I'll bring 'em.

I'd try the 28x9 and see. I would run as much pressure as possible and still get a good launch. The sidewalls are wiggly and I never like the loose feel at the top end so keeping the pressure up minimizes this. If I thought I could fit em I'd try a 29" tall tire. That is one of the reasons I have been looking at stiffer rear springs.

29's mite contact the tail pipes. Number 4 on the rear QA1's and 11 PSI in the 28's keeps it in the groove.

Also less pressure allows more growth at speed so you add height at the big end, though I'm not sure how much. I always liked my m/t slicks.

 Not as much fun as the g60-16 m&h but they always hooked. Just scary looking on the street I think. Harder to get a race even though I have em on stock t wheels.

I'm well aware of the 28" having the bigger footprint and RPM reduction on the big end......only reason I have the 255's is the steal of a deal I got on them. Brand new $300! They were at a tire shop for big rigs and I seen them sitting in the corner and thought, that's strange, MT ET Streets at a truck tire shop?? So I inquired about them. Anywho, turns out they ordered them for a guy who's a friend of one of the workers there, and he never came in to get them. Sold them to me on the spot.


Brad, I should had that slip info on the Husek 9.5 this spring! If I can get the PL sorted out. Should be a fun year.
I'm thinking if I do opt for the Radial Pro, they should go on a 8-8.5" rim right? Maybe I hunt around for some Vectors. I think they were 8.5 wide weren't they?

MT will likely recommend an 8" wide rim. My Billet Specialties are 8"...and I have a pair of 28x9's on them. I also bought two more Billet Specialties and mounted 28" DR's on them for the street. I run 28x9's and 10.5's on the stock 7" rims to headfake 'em at the track occasionally.. .but I don't recommend it. Stick with the correct rim width for the tire. I picked up a pair of mint 255 DR's from Brandon and am mounting them on GN rims for the street with 235's up front. Yes, I know, I have too many rims and tires. :)

I posted on the other board awhile back asking if anyone had slip numbers for Davids LU convertor. I pretty much got jumped on for asking the question. My understanding is Davids LU convertor is made for racing unlocked. Seat of the pants doesn't tell me anything. Some real world numbers would be helpful. :)

Yeah there is always some "passionate discussion" when the comparisons are brought up regarding these new converters.

Well, I know this doesn't help much but, the MPH wasn't too bad when I went in the fall, 12.11 @ 113 and 24 psi
1.95 60'..........that was on the 255 Micky's with about a 0 boost launch
