How to verify a 1986 GN is truly a GN??
« on: February 11 2013, 02:22:43 AM »
I just picked up a 1986 GN and id like to verify its a GN and not something else.
Trunk RPO codes?? I didn't even look at it but i wouldn't believe it anyway its too easy to replace a trunk lid.
Would the Vin# be useful?
The Eight digit IS a #7.
Is there anything else that can be used to positively confirm its a GN??
Cowl tag??
The body--All fucked up and wrong badges all over the place
The interior--same as above
thanks for your help.

Check the trunk lid label. Should have  RPO option code WE2 for Grand National. Also make the the VIN on the label matches the VIN on the car.    If you have any issues call me and I will stop by.

My blood pressure just went through the roof ill call the guy later on tonight.

On the WH1 i am not  knocking the car as WH1,gn,T and t-type to me are all the same shit "Regals"
But for a quick resale to a none Buick guy if it doesn't say GN its a "Fake GN".

Not a total loss. It can be worth as much as a real GN if you restored it back to the  two tone paint and the rest to make it a real designer series WH1. They only made around 400 of them compared to 1000's of GN's.  But if you were sold on a real GN then you were taken for a ride.

I really love the 86 WH1 cars.  I would love to have one some day, I just need to "justify" it to my wife.

The WH1 cars are very rare and to me and some others is worth a premium.

Also from your VIN I believe your car is an early model 86 car that was actually built in 1985 (as an 86).

Enjoy your car,
