Title: powerlogger boost question
Post by: Shimy87 on September 14 2018, 04:56:35 PM
I had a problem with alky activation this spring, Julio helped me figure out that the MAP wiring that went to the stock boost gauge was causing trouble, a short in the gauge. We eliminated it as I have an a pillar boost gauge. Getting ready for some track time end of the month so I got out the laptop and powerlogger dosent read boost info now.  How do I get this info to the computer now, I'm assuming by eliminating the signal to the stock gauge it also eliminated it to the computer ?

on the stock cars, the map sensor never went to the ECM.  When installing it to the PL so you can log it, you have to run a wire from the map sensor output to the analog board that attaches to the powerlogger.

Maybe this will help     http://www.vortexbuicks-etc.com/PowerLogger.htm (http://www.vortexbuicks-etc.com/PowerLogger.htm)

I was reading on your site and the full throttle forum and if I'm on the right track. Right now I only run the MAP signal to the alky controller. I can tap into the signal wire that is coming from the MAP to the alky controller and send that signal to the l2 connector on the PL and that should do it?

As always thanks for any help!!!

Yeah, it's screwey how the factory wiring is on this circuit.  It goes from the MAP sensor to the boost/tach and then to the area above the ECM where we tap for boost logging.

When I took my boost/tach out for Caspers to rebuild my logging stopped working.

Note: I never did the jumper wire mod on Steve's site.   I think that'll fix it, but I can't say first hand either way as I haven't done it.
