Title: Front Seats and Paint
Post by: Texas Turbo T on September 29 2011, 12:30:50 PM
Hello,

Since I finally got the car running again, I'm going to check on some interior parts/prices (seat covers, upper door panels, and headliner. (already bought new carpet) Bought two complete front GN seats for parts ($50). (Have already installed the power seat track on the drivers side) Will the passengers side foam fit the drivers side correctly? (Thinking it has less wear then the drivers side)

Then (if I am not too sticker shocked) I need to get a quote for a professional paint job! (clear coat from back in the early 90's is pealing off the hood and trunk lid) Texas heat is rough on paint and interior. Luckily there is no rust ! ! ! :)

Hello,

I was wanting to harvest the foam from the passengers seat I bought and use it in my original drivers seat when I have new seat covers installed.

Think they misunderstood what I'm wanting to install. Not the "whole" bottom part of the seat.

Thanks for your leg work on this matter!

I'm considering the exact same manouver.
So it seems the answer is "maybe" until one actually puts them (foam) side by side for comparison.

going from memory here....

Right before my car was stolen I recovered my seatbottoms with used factory cloth. I cut strips of padding (much like the bottom of the trunk liner) and placed two rectangles on the middle section and two strips on end bolster.
When The seat was installed it make the center crease held down by the rod look much much better, and the bolsters actually worked again.

Plus it's a little cheaper than buying new foam and hoping you don't have to fight with it :)
