So, we have this brand new 383 stroker sitting around...what should we put it in?
We want an economy project, something simple...somet hing that if we need to order a part we don't have to hire a PI to find it.
I was thinking a 70's Nova? They seem to be plentiful and cheap, lots of aftermarket parts, etc.
I just need a roller.
Ideas?

78 and up Malibus are cheap...and light. Here's a pic of one of the young lads that races with me with his Malibu. That's his grandfather in the background.

Drop that thing in a mustang just to piss off the ford guys :icon_fU:

Vega!

Yeah, this is a project for my son, my father, and I to do once my father moves here next year. He picked up the motor and was going to put it in his Corvette but decided against it and then this idea came to light. My son (9) wanted the white T-Type but I just don't think a Turbo Regal is a good car for a high school kid as it's not the kind of car you can have break down somewhere and be able to limp it home.

Malibu station wagon! good weight distribution for a drag car

Not a roller...but the price is right. He may take less?

When I was in high school, my first truck was a 1972 Chevy short box, it was fun but I really wanted a long bed.
So...my Dad texts me a picture of a truck yesterday from a swap meet he's attending with "1970 Stick, $5K today".
I call him and he says it's a 1970 3/4 ton, 350 with a 4 speed manual on the floor.
The for sale sign said $6.5K, as soon as my dad started talking to him he went to $5K, then got talked down to $4.5K.
The paint is fairly recent, and whoever did it; did it right. They took out the interior and painted to match the body too. Replaced all the window seals. The interior trim is black, and it's in really good shape too. It has some weird skull and crossbones stuff on it, like the rear view mirror.
No rot or rust anywhere.
Needs a new speedometer cable.
Needs new shocks.
Front seal is leaking...
It had an auxiliary tank but it looks like they removed it and never filled in the hole for it in the bed.
It's mine now.

Nice truck...and a heckuva deal!
-
That is nice, probably one of my favority vintage of GM pickup.

That's awesome! Dad had a 69 LWB with 3 on the tree. That thing would always mess up the linkage when shifting gears. It was green with white on the top of the cab. I was hoping to find one for me and the boy someday. Glad for you!

The one I had in HS was green with a white top.

For sale: Rear view skull mirror $1,000
So it needs a little TLC and some nickels and dimes thrown at it:
Shocks
Speedometer and cable
Rear view mirror
Goofy decals on the nose and the tail gate removed

At least you have a green steering column to remind you of the old days!

I have a pretty nice edelbrock carb I'm taking off my racecar that I would sell pretty reasonably.... should you want to dump the quadra-bog.

Yeah, different shade of green though. It looked like this one:

Hoping it's pretty easy to take off and I'll sand it and just paint it black.

I will definitely keep that in mind. Right now I'm buying a house and need to save my pennies and dimes.
