Earthquake!
« on: April 18 2008, 08:56:21 AM »
Tornados, now earthquakes!  I just had my first earthquake.  I woke up this morning thinking there was a earthquake, woke Bryan, he told me that I was dreaming,and to go back to sleep, he rolled over back sleeping.  Sure enough, this morning, there was.  Amazing.                :rofl;

I wish.  :sad;

About the only thing we have around here are floods and mudslides. Floods in the valleys and mudslides on the hills.

I can only imagine what it must feel like for the first time when you have one of those!  :rolleyes:  :bigeyes;

We have them so often here that it's only when a building falls does it make the news.  They are kinda freaky in that it sounds just like a train coming through the house right before the house shakes all to hell.

I thought shakers were from Massachusetts - kind of like the Amish people of Pennsylvania.

That's the truth. There's a rumble and this eerie silence and WHAM! Your 40 bottles are clanking outside of your bag.  :bigeyes;

It sounded so wierd. I had a feeling it was, but it was so wierd. At least the kids slept through it. But yesterday afternoon, I was dusting my China Cabinet and I thought, who turned my China dishes to the side? Then I thought, oh duh. It was real freaky. The kids came home from school yesterday and told me that they had an "Earthquake drill". I mean they have had them before but because we are on the "Madrid Fault line". So, I guess we could get these things all the time.

IIRC there was something about a fault line running through Chicago that could make CA look tame.

Where I come from my friend, a shaker is a vessel that one puts vodka, ice, and an ever so small dose of vermouth to make a bone dry martini.
