I'm stunned they killed him (graffic pix)
« on: December 30 2006, 11:18:57 PM »
I just cant get over how they killed him. Your guilty bam your dead. No months or years of waiting for his execution. I'm for killing someone if there 100% guilty. But damn, it happens and I'm like...maybe we sould have waited. Hell, we waited years to kill Mcveigh. And who was he? A nobody. I think I feel that way because it was someone like Saddam. I grew up with the guy. He's always in the news. He's a powerful person. He ran a country for 20 years. I first learned about him when we were helping him...I was a young American and felt like "yeah! lets help Saddam!!!". Saddam started in my life as a good guy. Then the Gulf War started and I really didnt understand what was going on. I was influenced by high school teachers and their opinions. I was and still am confused about that war.

I feel like Bush jr pushed for this so hard because of his dad. Maybe Sr walked around every day saying "I wish I could have gotten him". Maybe Sr can die knowing his life is complete now and Jr can die knowing he made his dad proud...for once.

I really think Saddam should have been kept around for a while...in custody of course.

I kinda understand what you mean about Saddam. He had sort of a
classy appearance. But, thats only appearance. He was an intelligent
man and he knew exactly the image to portray to his people. He had
many skeletons in his closet. He had ordered 1000's of his people executed.
He even personally killed some of his own family after he tricked them
into returning to Iraq when they fleed the country during the first US invasion.
He was a ruthless dictator much like Hitler, Mussolini, and Stalin. He
deserved what he got.  Keeping him around longer, only would've made the situation in Iraq worse than it already is. A fast execution was the best bet
instead of allowing Shite sympathizers enough time to devise any sort of
rescue mission or martyr style attack. At least he recieved due process...

Who exactly tried Saddam? Could he have made a law protecting himself? I'm wondering because other leaders like him see the example made of him.

He was removed from power and tried accordingly by the Iraqi people. Once
Saddam was removed from power, he no longer had the power to make any
laws protecting his actions or otherwise.

If that had happened, we'd have likely killed him without a trial. Honestly, we
(the US) should have gone back into Iraq 10 years ago when Saddam was
disobeying the the resolution restrictions. Instead, they left enough time to
allow them to stockpile weapons and train for a future confrontation.

We helped Saddam AFTER he killed people right? Why didnt we get him then instead of helping him? Why punish him decades later?

The only reason I have any remorse is that he is the only one capable of controlling the ones responsible for the insurgency.

They are all scared shitless of him and I would think we could use that somehow to protect our sons and daughters.

I think I would have felt better about it if an Iraqi would have wacked him in public, ala Jack Ruby.

Yeah, like use him to seriously negotiate peace. He was wrong killing people but he's not a nobody like Mcveigh...I think he could have made a difference. But than again, he would have probably died from old age befor he gave in to creating peace.

I keep telling myself not to form an opinion because I'm not a part of it.

It does seem that if the reverse were true and they would have invaded us we would be honoring the ones we call the insurgency.

I wish that we just were not a part of it and could fix problems at home instead.

There is no negotiations with these "extremists" groups.  They want us dead plain and simple,  they say it in their speeches to the Iraqi people as well as Iran.  We are hated by all those countries, we send them money and they breed more terrorists trying to kill us.

I'm not sympathetic with the ones killing our soldiers, but I think I understand them.

It reminds me of our Revolutionary War where we were the insurgency against England.  We fought because we thought we were right and now honor those who fought and died.

I think they are really afraid of having a 16 Wal-marts and 4200 Subways in town after we leave, and that will make anyone a little trigger happy.

We should start the "Jared not Jihad" campaign.

SunDog, believe me, I to wish we would spend a few years taking care of America and America only. I've said it b4. But then we'd lose control of the world.

I'm not saying to negotiate with the extreemists... just the normal people. Remember that gangster they executed last spring? He was a huge leader of street gangs. After he was arrested he did alot of good things to curb gang violence. He tried to right his wrongs. I think Saddam could have done the same thing and instead of dying a tyrant, Saddam could have saved a little face.

I don't know, I hate talking politics, but I have a feeling that this is going to open a whole new can of worms for the US.  I bet we are going to have more problems for us now.

As for McVeigh, the dude who blew up the govt office in OK?  Kind of funny that he was related to the movie director asshole "Michael Moore". Now I can go on about that fucker.... Mr. Anti-gun shit....lol
