I'm staying positive with keeping that we're gonna get enuf sponsors to run the race series at my home track next year. I'll go ahead next spring and have Joe build me a backup engine. A couple years back I  cracked a cylinder for a 2nd time...and it went right up to the deck...so I had no choice but to scrap the block. The slugs in it are .030 over TRW's. One got wrecked in the cracked cylinder so I picked up one new one to replace it. You guys...especia lly Earl, are prolly gonna tell me they're heavier than sin.

The current engine in the car is the numbers matching std bore with stock everything...i ncluding pistons. The engine comes up on revs pretty damn quick. The rotating assembly was balanced by Joe and I have the RJC lower pulley and AC 9.5 inch convertor that helps lighten the rotating assembly. The question I have is this. How much heavier...if any...is the stock std piston compared to the TRW .030 over. I picked up a std bore block from one of the locals...but one cylinder is scored...so I have no choice but to overbore it. Oh...the .030 over assembly I have was balanced by Joe as well...but would need rebalancing again because of the new piston I purchased.

Found a post from Earl on the other board. Stocker with the rings, piston and pin come in at 820 grams. TRW with rings, pin and piston comes in at 790 grams.

I wish I could remember what my .030 4.1's weighed that replaced those POS hypers.

As long as we're doing piston porn with weights, here's a 2618 4.060" long rod stroker slug that weighs 515g. The pins were 124 for a total of 639g without rings.

Earl, I'll assume those are a full floater rod/pin?

Either. The piston doesn't decide if it's pressed for floating, the rod does.

On those pistons they got a .927" SBC pin hole for a 6.500" rod.  The compression height was so short the slug needed oil rail supports.
