Boost Pressure-How Much

With a stock set of head gaskets...8 bolt heads...ARP head studs...ZERO KR. How much boost pressure would it take...in theory...to push a set of stock head gaskets out...strictly from the pressure. I am likely asking an impossible question...but what the hell. :)

Big factor is probably the turbo and what air mass does the boost relate to

This question intrigues me, as my block is all stock and unopened with original head gaskets. I've been turning the wick up and working on a decent # at the track. No KR  as of yet (thank god). Upgrading fuel pump now and have a PL coming from Eric. I have a feeling I'll need to run the TE60 pretty high  to get a mid 11 sec pass.

I accidently hit 30psi last year when my wastegate failed.  Headgaskets were fine, which was very surprising.  That is on my CPT-66.

I hit 29 at Norwalk, it took 3 more outings to finally give up.

Ive benn running 24 and had almost run out of adjustment on removing top gear fueling so turned it up to 26 and wow...2 lbs made quite a difference.
87 GN, K&N cold air, gutted cat, TT 5.7 chip, AFPR, 340 Walbro w/ hotwire, 60 LBS injectors, 981 valve springs, 206/206 Cam, RJC Powerplate, LS1 MAF & translator, Vacuum brakes, Hellwig rear sway bar, Energy suspension poly bushings, Razors Alky, Pypes exhaust, 5931 turbo, CK9.5 converter

Assuming no knock and adaquate fueling will a car running 30 lbs and a car running 25 lbs with same no knock/good fueling have a similuar life span....or will the 30 pounder break sooner just because of added stresses?

the more hp you make, the faster things give up the ghost...there is no free lunch.  And if one guy makes 500 hp at 30 psi and another guy makes 500 hp at 20 psi, both engines receive the same amount of stress. 

The faster you go, the more it costs and the sooner it breaks.

Thanks for that thread Brad that really is an inspiration. Can't believe I've never stumbled across it over the yrs. These cars never cease to amaze me

The stock short block can take a pretty fair amount of pressure. Bison has beat on the stock short blocks...and they hold up to low 10's...but only for so many passes. The piston will crack along the top on the same line as the wrist pin. He had a pic awhile back in his avatar of a cracked stock piston...with 'wink' written below it. :) The more pressure you add...the more chance for breakage. No KR will aid in longevity...bu t sooner or later you'll always find the weak link. Last year for me was beefing up the transmission. Like Steve said...there's no free lunch. Going fast...comes at a price.

Well for sure the faster ya wanna go the better your getting to know you bank manager. Unless your a public sector worker and have a nice gold plated pension.
Boost is addictive, reducing et is addictive. But hey were enjoying a hobby that looks dirty sometimes to a few tree gropers.  I know all about going fast comes with a price. Example, my '71 full weight GS, it was a few bucks/sweat to get that car to run an 11.3 @121 with factory suspension, Th350 and 10 bolt 3:73 gear. All heavy steel wheels with dog dish caps
