General Buick Tech / Serpantine belt
« on: July 03 2013, 09:24:44 AM »
Hey guys, I was going through the thread of my timing chain and remembered someone saying something about me having the wrong belt on my car.  Is this something that I should change immediately?  Is it negatively affecting anything?  Just wondering if it's something I should budget into buying this month...

General Buick Tech / eliminating knock possibilities
« on: June 25 2013, 11:28:00 AM »
Hello gents, I'm still chasing down this false KR that I've been getting, and I'm looking for the most effective way to track it down.  I've read a check list of how to find false knock, and I seen on that list oil in the intake tract.  Well, my stock turbo IS passing oil, and it has been for a while.  So would I be wasting time attempting every other method until I get this taken care of?  I was told that the turbo spitting oil will drive the knock sensor crazy. is this accurate?  Class is in session

Im going to pick up my car tomorrow from the shop.  I finally got the valve springs installed.  I also bought an adjustable wg that's sitting in the passenger seat, dual fans, and casper's kit for the dual fans also sitting in the backseat.  Back to adjusting and tuning when I get this knock gauge installed.  Keep you guys posted.

General Buick Tech / knock gauge install
« on: June 03 2013, 11:28:21 AM »
Hey guys, i installed my knock gauge, and Im not getting any lights, but my SM is showing knock.  I tapped into the yellow wire with the black stripe.  Am i missing something?  Im running the power for the backlight off of the same accessory as the boost gauge, which is the gear shifter light.  Any thoughts?

General Buick Tech / Knock sensor?
« on: May 08 2013, 06:55:43 PM »
Hey guys, I had a code 43 pop up two weeks ago.  The SM was showing 13.4 KR in park and while driving.  I reset the ecm to see if my car was just being bitchy.  Code went away, and didnt show back up, until yesterday.  This time, it didnt go away. Lol.  I put the control module from NOS4GN back in my car, because I had it sitting and wanting to eliminate at least one possibilty.  Anyway to test knock sensor?  I did some reading on Steve's site.  Seen something about knocking on something to see if the knock sensor would pick it up, but im alone(i guess i could get my wife to help..) any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.  And 13.4 seems to be the special number the plastered on the SM for KR.   :x

General Buick Tech / Anything else i should do first?
« on: April 30 2013, 06:56:57 PM »
Ok guys, had my AC switched over to 134 some years ago.  I also had a new compresssor installed.  The AC only worked for about a week. NOW, the people I had charge my system put about 6 cans of freon in the car.  They claimed to have found NO leaks.  This was about 3-4 years ago.  Since then, I have installed a new resistor thingy for the blower for my digital dash.  I plan to take the car up to a professional place to have the AC system fixed.  Should I do anything else before I take it up there?

General Buick Tech / I've searched
« on: January 31 2013, 10:54:39 AM »
I've been looking for explanations for my issue, but have yet to find one.  I havent touched anything(settings, etc) within my chip.  During all my testing and tuning the car ran great.  It still runs good, but if i stand on it from a dead stop, the car only makes approximately 12 lbs of boost or so.  When i ease into, it might make about 15 lbs, but if i push all the way down to the floor during the "easing into it' it drops back down to about 12 lbs or so.  Pissing me off seeing that I haven't been tampering with anything.  Thanks for any advice or suggestions.  I have intentions to buy a billet vacuum block too, because I like the way they look, and I'm eliminating any possibilites of leaks.

So, some of you all may know i turned 25 yesterday. My wife had the whole day planned out for me.  She realized my "obsession" with the buick, so she bought for me what I never would have.  Bumper fillers for the front and back, temp gauge, knock gauge, oil pressure gauge, plus the pillars that they go in.  Also bought me a cup holder and gave me a check for some rims.( i gave the check back tho). also got two pair of shoes, shirts, coats, beats by dre heaphones, and a surprise birthday party that had me hungover bad this morning.  Just thought I'd share my birthday news.  Happy new years

General Buick Tech / Might be making progress?
« on: December 06 2012, 05:52:27 PM »
I've been doing a LOT of reading, but I have yet to find any material as to how the valve springs work and why it seems to be one of the first mods.  I've read a couple threads after searching and searching, and seen someone say if your car accelerates hard, then seems to hit a wall, then it could potentially be valve springs.  Im not interested in throwing parts at the car, but I seem have an issue with my car pulling at higher RPM's.  Thanks for any input fellas

General Buick Tech / what are you guys using
« on: November 02 2012, 10:31:36 AM »
..for oil filler caps.  I need a cap that's going to fit my valve cover becuase the OEM oil filler thingy was removed.  Do I need to buy a new set of valve covers? If so, do they come with the oil filler cap?  Just looking for what most guys are using to cover up the oil filler hole in the valve cover.  Thanks
