General Buick Tech / Electrical issues
« on: August 19 2019, 10:54:57 AM »
Car stared to stumble at idle and sometime shuts off, and also hard to start. all scan readings look fine except for battery voltage. so I know its the problem. I turned the key on and the volts on scan master go from 11v to 0v back and forth. gave the ECU panel a slap and it stopped. maybe time to replace the ECU pigtails  :( . once I get the car started and its stays running everything is fine. I have checked the battery cables and lines at the alternator,

General Buick Tech / suspension upgrades?
« on: February 12 2019, 04:31:48 PM »
my car has been 1.49 60ft with the stock rear with home made boxes upper and lower and air bags on both sides and this was on drag radials
since I have change to the 9" rear my best 60ft is 1.57 with slicks, I cant get the DRs to hook and even have trouble getting the slicks to hook.

What would be the first think to upgrade?

General Buick Tech / Power log -- getting some knock, need help
« on: December 03 2018, 10:22:01 AM »
after recently putting a new cartridge on turbo and fixing the exhaust leaks I have gone from 24psi to 29 psi of boost. the car is running good but after data logging I noticed so knock, on the log I made two hits the first one the boost stayed at about 24-25 psi and no knock, I was not at full throttle, second hit at full throttle the boost was at 28-29psi and showed some knock, to me everything looks OK on the fuel readings etc. I was wondering could it be that I am loosing spark.
1) should I back off on timing
2) should I back off on boost
3) should I change gap on plugs

Any help appreciated
Thanks

I will installing new racetronix fuel line, I was wondering what to do with the vent line, do I need to keep it running to the front or can I just run it to the rear of the car, the canister has been removed for years.

General Buick Tech / a day at track
« on: January 18 2016, 09:08:38 PM »
Went to the track Sunday made one pass and the engine has a knock, Saturday I installed the new TR6 module with new coil pack and put a 66mm turbo on the car and added slicks, The car hooked good and started moving to the wall so I had to pedal, go on it again and it got loose. after looking at the log I pedal 3 times before the 1/8 and never went full throttle after the first pedal.. I guess I got nervous with the slicks making the car wavy. went 11.75 @ 108 not a bad time for pedaling so much and not pushing the pedal to the floor. now on the return road I heard a ticking on the motor and by the time I got back to my truck it was knocking and missing. got back home and pulled the pass side valve cover and the #4 exhaust rocker stud had backed out half way, I inspected the push rod and rocker and they looked good so I bolted it back in and went for a test, it seemed to be fine but once I got into it the car was back firing so I parked it. so I will to compression test and leak down test to check for a bent valve.

Question are 7mm wires big enough for the TR6

IHADAV8 Playground / Heart Attack " Glad to be able to write this post
« on: December 01 2015, 02:55:22 PM »
Hey PPl . on Nov 9 I had a heart attack and nearly lost my life. Here is the story - went to work on nov 9 a Monday morning, I was feeling pretty good, the only thing hurting me was my left shoulder felt like I had strained it from working on replacing the rear end on the GN so I didnt think much of it. while on my way to work the unconfortable feeling that I had in my shoulder was getting into my chest, I stayed at work until the feeling was into my neck area and was affecting my breathing. at  that point I decided to drive myself to the Hospital 20 miles away. Made it the the hospital and drove to the emergency lane but I decided not to park there because I didn't want my truck blocking a real emergency, so I tried to find my a place to park in the parking lot. WELL as I was looking for a place I caught my heart attack, truck in drive and my foot on the gas pedal, I am out. truck starts to race across the parking lot for about 300ft then I hit a concrete Light pole, it breaks in two and the truck continues on and crosses a road and onto another parking lot where it comes to a stop as both front tires are blown and the frame of the truck jams on a curb, gas pedal still pushed, the building next to me is part of the hospital " wellness center" . they heard the crash and started CPR right away until the ambulance showed up to take me to the ER. 100% blockage on left and 2 places of 80% on the right. I am getting better everyday. My reason for putting this on here is this.
I felt normal and  I thought that I was OK and healthy , get yourself checked out I have a second chance.

General Buick Tech / Back Fire
« on: October 20 2015, 03:07:59 PM »
The Friday before I left to go to Cruising the Coast I took the car for a ride, everything seemed good until I nailed it after turning a curve and the car backfired, I got out of it and headed home, started checking the scan master and seen the Voltage was under 12v. so I was figuring that was the problem, started testing battery and ALT. . the Alt would drop voltage after running awhile. cold starts it was at 14+,
I tried to get a replacement from Oreilly but it didnt arive in time so I took my chances and headed to CTC. Everything worked great on the way there. The next day just cruising around the Volts started dropping. One of my friends from MISS. had a ALT. he could not use with his setup, so he sold it to me, later that night we changed it out, steady 13.9-14 volts. so we are good. This past Saturday night I leave a car show ( Got a peoples choice award  ) , I got into the gas and the sum bitch backfires on me again, volts were 13.9 , so maybe I have some other problem. I havent had time to check over anything yet. Just posting for any ideas for when I do have time to check. Thanks.

IHADAV8 Playground / Scan readings
« on: September 26 2015, 05:12:32 PM »
Just got my friends GN on the road, things look good on the PL and scan master except for the O2s , it's showing run lean after warm up it cycles and goes to 000 and stays there until you move the throttle, I also notice when cruising , any change in throttle speeding up , it also hits the 000 , so I put in a new 02 sensor and it's still the same . It's like it's reading and shuts off

General Buick Tech / very lean condition at idle
« on: April 11 2015, 04:32:23 PM »
I have been working on a friends GN, after fixing all the exhaust and vacuum leaks and also putting in a adjustable fuel pressure reg to get the pressure right, BLMs at idle go to 150 , as soon as you give it a lil gas BLMs go to 128 or so. this is 100% stock 87 drive train except for translator and new maf, IAC seems to be adjusting the air, it gives me 44 code if I leave it idle for awhile but goes off after playing with throttle. Any ideas?
