I'm having no luck. So this Yamaha remote decides to die out of nowhere. Did the iPhone trick and there's no IR coming out of it. Is this repairable? And if so...what needs to be replaced. Heard it's a diode...or some fukn thing. Is the part generic?
P.S. Yes...fresh batteries.

Checking YouTube now.

There's a Yamaha dealer in town...but they're closed today. Will check with them in the morning. Think they might sub it out?
-
I got a couple remotes here I can scrounge from.
-
You could try to swap the IR LED - polarity has to be right and match . if it is clear plastic you may be able to see which leg had the larger metal inside or sometimes the legs are thicker at the top.
-
I don't think most phones will pass the IR anymore - that was how they were getting the "nude " effects early days
-
Thanks Dave. Talked to my buddy that's the long time audio tech. He's gonna have a look at it tonite. I can see the IR lite on all my other remotes with my phone...except the Yamaha.
-
Good you did check a good one.
just testing- my Iphun blocks the IR but my dull webcam shows it clearly
-
You did open it check that the bat contacts aren't corroded or broken solder joint where the contacts stick into the pcb, also common
-
Yeah...had a look. My luck...is never anything that simple. The red lite comes on as soon as you touch any of the keys.
-
Probably means the micro inside is still working so that is good.

Get back to you on it when he gets a look at it. Off to the Yamaha dealer to see if they have a fix for this HDMI handshake BS going on between the receiver and TV. Currently have the Blu Ray player HDMI'd to the TV...and the optical out from the TV to the receiver for sound.
