General Buick Tech / Bigger brake project
« on: July 09 2020, 06:08:25 PM »
Ordered blazer front spindles, and the brackets and C5 front calipers, rotors for the buick today. Should stop much better, easier after but to be honest I'm doing it mostly for the look. Also will be a fun project for my 11 yrs old son and me to tackle. I will post up some before/after pics when done. If anyone has done this any advice is always appreciated  :atbeer: :atbeer:

General Buick Tech / Radiator
« on: June 26 2020, 06:29:03 PM »
Getting ready for the track tomorrow and after the test drive my radiator sprung a leak. It's a pinhole leak up by where the upper hose comes out. Can these radiators be repaired would I be better off getting a replacement. If they can be replaced where is a good place to find a replacement. Better it happened here at home then after a 2-hour drive to the track but still a pain in the ass.

Did a test, drivers side front to back 146,155,152 pass side 155,160,155. Should I be concerned about the 146 hole? I don't think I should, it's within 10% but figured I'd ask you guys....thanks!!

If your considering them, my advice is dont!! Street tires hook just as good. Tried them because they were the only company that made a 17 inch that was 28 inches tall. With my 26 inch tall Nittos I had 1.6 60 ft times and could leave with 10-14 lbs boost and hook. These let go on 2 lb launches and my best 60 ft of the day was 1.98........tr ied from 18 lbs air and dropped down to 14 and still no traction. Very disappointed!!

Hey guys...i have a Pypes 2.5 system on the car now with a 3 inch DP.....Works great but the drone is just getting too annoying. I put some Magnaflos mufflers on a camero that had terrible drone and took care of 90% of it.  What works well on these to flow but not drone? Thanks

General Buick Tech / powerlogger boost question
« on: September 14 2018, 04:56:35 PM »
I had a problem with alky activation this spring, Julio helped me figure out that the MAP wiring that went to the stock boost gauge was causing trouble, a short in the gauge. We eliminated it as I have an a pillar boost gauge. Getting ready for some track time end of the month so I got out the laptop and powerlogger dosent read boost info now.  How do I get this info to the computer now, I'm assuming by eliminating the signal to the stock gauge it also eliminated it to the computer ?

My alky won't activate under boost but test button works fine. Have 5.06 volts on grey wire at MAP....green wire has .09 volts. Question is when I blow hard in tube going to map voltage on green wire dosent change....it should unless a person can't blow hard enough to make it change??

General Buick Tech / Headlights
« on: April 19 2018, 03:40:21 PM »
Is there a relay somewhere up front for the headlights. Last summer when driving at night ( try to avoid night driving because of the thousands of deer that cant stay off the road) the lights would go out. if I switched the brights/low beams on and off with the turn signal stalk it would make them come back on. Thought maybe there is a relay going bad?? Hope its not the turn signal stalk!!

General Buick Tech / Porting Westgate question
« on: November 24 2017, 10:27:12 PM »
I was wondering if anyone had any before/after experience with this......some will remember my boost issues. Well winters are long here and I was wondering. My DP has the very large puck and a stock size hole. If I ported the hole to roughly 1/16 overlap if it would have an effect on the boost control....spe cifically being able to run higher boost. Now just to run 23 lbs I need a helper spring on the tension arm. What do you guys think?? As always...thank s!!

General Buick Tech / Track day
« on: October 02 2017, 11:04:23 AM »
Car ran ok 12.1 was best. Too many cars showed up so only 4 runs. I think my tire height is holding me back but wanted to ask here. All 4 runs were 107.69 to 107.80 MPH and the times were 12.3, 12.1, 12.3 12.2.  short times were best of 1.6 worst of 1.8.

So question is what is the ideal tire height for the 1/4 mile? I'm crossing the line at 3rd at 54XX RPM

My third run I tried leaving it in OD and as you see, same MPH and time but crossed the line at 47XX RPM. Felt like is shifted with about 100 FT left to the line.

Thanks for any help!!
