Stupid question time.....the vacume booster is leaking so i need to replace it. I'm assuming one for non turbo 87 regal will be the one I should order??   Thanks!!

General Buick Tech / getting ready for track

Track day Sunday!!!  I'm attaching a couple logs from some test passes on the street. Probably a touch rich but what do ya think. some knock on the one but dont know if I should be concerned?? the one run that shows 9 lbs boost was set at a 2 bar map sensor so shows low boost pressure, was actually 23-24 lbs. run 3 I lowered 1st gear fueling to 124.

General Buick Tech / TT chip and octane

I have a tt chip, marked 60 lb injectors , 93 octane, 15-17 boost. I think 21 degrees timing but not sure. I can only get 91 octane. When I roll into boost (12 lbs) in drive I get bad knock. I tried adding 6% wot fuel but I don't even get to wot. Will I need a new chip burned for 91???

Transmissions / TV adjustment, HARD shifting

Getting stuff sorted out. car really hammers shifts. I have adjusted the TV cable as should be ( pull al the way back, floor car and let it self adjust) I think its to tight causing hard shifting. I compaired to other car and its way tighter. also unclipped from TB piviot and pulled each out by hand, good car has far less tension on cable. Was going to try loosening up cable to see if problem gets better. I know I dont want it to loose but now the car shifts like a sledge hammer.

Im guessing if car shifts correctly and downshifts correctly running it looser isnt a problem as long as its working properly?

General Buick Tech / engine miss

Finally got to put some miles on the kids car, about 100 miles. Most everything is good except it has a slight miss when under very light load. example when you go down hill or come up behind a car going 5 mph slower, so your still in the throttle but barely, then i can feel the miss. It goes away as soon as a load comes back on car or you give it more throttle. Have not been able to look at anything yet. Was going to start with plugs/wires but really not sure where to start??

also think the shift cable from throttle body needs adjustment, at 40-45 mph, very light throttle it hunts back and forth sometimes for what gear it wants....think I need to depress tab and pull cable back a couple clicks??

I have installed a digital volt meter reading right of the alt in both cars...they both read 14.5 but the SM in both show 13.6ish. Is it common to lose that much between the alt and computer?

A/C, Heating and Cooling / hot cold blend door

Well this weekend slid the hot/cold lever over to hot. later go to slid it back to cold and feel some resistance then it slides to cold but no cold air looks like the cable connects to a v shaped plastic arm that moves the door. Well the plastic V broke where the cable connects. It also appears you need to remove the entire dash to replace that part

Anyone run into this dilema?

Restoring the trunk and when I removed the wiring in the deck lid it's got the orange wire for the light, the trunk release wire and a blue wire that goes to this a connector with a white thing....what is the unshielded cable supposed to connect to

General Buick Tech / Turbo question

Thinking about "handing down" the turbo in my car ( 5931) to my sons and putting larger one in mine. Questions, dont plan on running more than the 24 lbs I run now, so is boost boost? Is a larger turbo at 24 going to make any more power? This one spools quickly so I assume a larger one might be slower spooling.

Looking for guidance here. I have run my current combo to death and cant get into the 11's  and been reading lots of threads and seems a 6262 is a really common choice.

Well shes home now so here we go. Going to get it all unpacked today and try to make a systematic list of things to get done. First goal is get through check list and get this motor started and get cam broke in. Son is pretty excited, hope that continues as I explained this wont be a "couple weekends" kind of job. I will try to keep updates and pictures coming to keep you guys entertained
